I’m Amanda (she/hers).

I’m a photographer and digital content creator based in Wiesbaden, Germany. Check out my photography portfolio here.

Photography has always been a creative way for me to preserve memories of loved ones, adventures, profound life moments, interesting places, and things I cherish.

My passion for photography and writing, along with an interest in news writing, led me to study Journalism in college. I graduated from the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa (UH Mānoa) in Spring 2015 with a B.A. in Journalism (with a focus in Photojournalism) and a Certificate in Women’s Studies.

During my junior year of college, I worked as a student intern in the Office of Public Relations and Communications at the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). After earning my degree, I continued working at JABSOM as part of the PR & Communications team until August 2017. Working at JABSOM ignited my passion for photojournalism – this is where I developed as a news writer, and learned how to professionally capture, compose, and tell stories through compelling photography and video. While living in Hawai‘i, I began photographing small weddings, surprise proposals, and portraits at the request of friends and acquaintances.

In August 2017, my husband and I moved to Boulder, Colorado, where I continued working in Communications, Marketing, Development, and Social Media Management for universities and nonprofit organizations. I also continued photographing small weddings and surprise proposals.

In December 2022, we relocated to Georgia, and in February 2024, we moved to Wiesbaden, Germany.

Amanda R. Shell Photo + Design became an official home-based business on February 21, 2025.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me exploring the great outdoors with my husband, bouldering, and sewing.
